This wouldn't be the Portland metropolitan area if we didn't put a bird on it...Have you seen Portlandia? Well, I guess it's sort of right. Just looking around the shop we have lots and lots and lots of birds.

In Case You Wanna Know
I just have to get it off my chest....I totally do not like music on blogs. I exit as quick as possible cuz I can't discreetly blog at work or late at night because all of a sudden someone blows my cover. I may look like I'm just watching TV but what I'm really doing is flipping from blog to blog.
Also, I do not like the newer format that just gives a little blurb and then you have to "click here to read more"...hate it, hate it, hate it.. I rarely click to read more.
Just thought you might wanna know.

Down the Rabbit Hole
I have fallen down a new rabbit hole....Pinterest! OMG! It is wild how much fabulous stuff is out there. I have created almost as many categories as there are items but hopefully I can start building it up. I have lots of fun things that I have copied to my computer but now I can share the wanderings around the web via my boards.
Yearning for summer....in the midst of winter.

Still dreaming in French....

And pondering new things for the store....

Check it out, become a follower and come down the rabbit hole with me...

Holiday Wanderings...
We love this little birch canoe. It makes me wish I had a cabin at the mountains to cozy up in or to go sledding... or maybe sled and then cozy up.
Love this printer's plate...my dad was a printer before it was an "art" form and a college course. I have a special place in my heart for paper, print, and ink...
Sonya made the little tree using lamb's ear from my garden. And the clock is one I brought home from France. It doesn't work but I love the look.
The apple hanging is a real show stopper. Would look great in the kitchen, if only I had a bigger kitchen!
A shaggy black Christmas tree?? It looks stunning with all white ornaments or even a mixture...and you could put it up at Halloween and keep it up through the holidays. How's that for efficiency?

Memories of Christmas
When we recall Christmas past, we usually find that the simplest things - not the great occasions - give off the greatest glow of happiness.--Bob Hope
As a child I loved Christmas...what kid doesn't?? It meant cutting out some of the school work to practice for the Christmas pageant....
Digging into the boxes stored in the basement for all the forgotten ornaments.....
Putting up the nativity sets.....one to play with (the chipped and glued set from Woolworths) and the nice set in the dining room....
Anticipating the trip to Meier and Frank's to see Santa, ride the monorail and check out the mechanical displays in the store windows.....
And all the special things that came out of the kitchen during that holiday season....divinity, Russian tea cookies, Thumbprint cookies, Spritz cookies, fruitcake (I happen to like "good" fruitcake!) and rum balls (yuck! I tasted them every year because there had to be something good about them if Mom continued to make them every year!), eggnog, Tom and Jerry's (not for the kids but I do confess to trying it once. Didn't like it), and our family's traditional oyster stew on Christmas Eve....

Monticello!
We are an invited guest at Monticello Antique Mall again this year. It is such an honor to be able to have a space during the Christmas season. Do come see our display. The show runs through December until January 2nd. Here are a few pictures to tease you:
